Method of construction

Once all the preliminary works are done the construction is ready to proceed. A skip will be needed outside your house (we can provide a license to be on the road if needed). We might need to hire other facilities for the workers. Below are roughly the main stages which are involved in the construction.

  • Digging foundations and having them inspected by the council.
  • Filling the trenches with concrete. Building six courses (layers) with engineering bricks and installing a damp proof course (DPC) to be inspected by building control.
  • Building the walls. Construction of the roof, windows and doors. Installing any beams to enlarge openings.
  • Construction of the floor (this stage could be done earlier, after laying the engineering bricks), lighting, plumbing and decoration depending on the internal specification.
